I simpley had a fun little wander on google for pictures of show dogs and
while Doxies vary with type, quite a few of the show dogs seemed pretty much
tubular. Is it fair to assume that a show dog won't be too far out of weght
standards?

Granted most should have a well defined waist, a bit (or more) of an
undertuck, and ribs that can be seen reasonably when standing.

Grin, my chubby fellow has all of that now, but it's a matter of level.
With vet goal weight (then review by vet) of 52 lbs, Cash is now about 4.5
lbs above goal. If he bulks up muscle though (which he does in summer when
he feels more like playing as it's warm and his arthritis doesnt bother him
much), he may be closer.

I have a real soft spot for Labs and one of my pet peeves about some Lab
owners is they overfeed, underexercise, and don't train - thinking Labs are
so good-natured they practically train themselves. (Okay, that's three pet
peeves.)
