Great pics!
One of these days I'll have to figure out the
more subtle aspects of Facebook. I didn't
even know you could have a private profile
and a public photo album! How cool!
And yes, I am a little bit jealous of your
far superior training space. Ours is either
indoors (where we can;t store stuff) or in
the park (ditto). Though I have to say that
classes are SOO Much more fun now that I'm
not teaching. W00t :-) >> Stay informed about: Doggie Play Day (fun action photos) |

One of the things I like about Facebook (mind you there are things I don't
like!) is that only friends can see a profile.
Re the pictures - in the small print at the bottom of a photo album, there's
a public link you can copy and paste.
I have also uploaded to Flickr, but it's much more time-consuming to
organize and caption there.

It is nice .. not to mention terrier-proof fenced. The big drawback,
though, is that there is no indoor area - if we have bad weather, we don't
have class.

Great Pix. I'll have you know that Zipper also has the patented "duck
and turn under the dog" move down pat. It's SO funny to see a big dog
running him down and the next thing you know, he's scooted out full
speed the other direction. It usually takes a couple of strides for the
big dogs to go, "Whu? There's no dog here!" By that time he has a 15'
head start the other way. >> Stay informed about: Doggie Play Day (fun action photos) |

They're really enjoying themselves. Looks like the weather is nice where
you are.
We're having a warm weekend and it's good to be out and about with the
dogs.

Sleet is JUST starting to mix in here. It has been just snow up until
now. I am VERY glad that I did not move to NH 11 years ago. While I
love some snow, especially one really good storm, I would not want big
storm after big storm after big storm. They're getting socked again
today in NE and I'm just as happy to be watching this land and mostly
melt.

But you don't know what your life would be like if you had
moved. You may have turned into a snow bunny, taking up
showshoeing or snowmobiling or mushing or cross-country
skiing or something that would make you really love constant
snow.

Possible, but not probable! My asthma may have improved with the
cleaner air (MD air pretty much sucks for respiratory issues), which may
have allowed me to partake in winter sports and still breathe, but I'm a
little skeptical. Having never been on one, I feel about the same way
about snowmobiles as I do about jetskis - a lot of idiots seem to be out
on them, and I just don't think I want to join them! I have to admit
that mushing would be appealing, but I'd need different dogs (or rent
some!). I actually was excited about possibly moving up there, for a
number of reasons, but also happy that we didn't for a number of
reasons. I am a "make lemonade" kind of person though, so I'm sure I'd
be rejoicing about lots of snow if I did live there.

I have been on them. When necessary for emergencies (Blizzard of 78-79)
And it was ok. But an ATV is a lot more practical every day (used in
cutting down trees, moving logs, relocating wagons of chopped wood,
gardening, hunting/trapping, excercising dogs, snow blowing driveways, and
when used for play, a lot more versatile (12 months of the year) and just
as thrilling. We only use our ATV only in authorized areas. It seems most
snowmobile activity is done illegally on public roads, through trespassing
in farmer's fields, and often used to harrass livestock by the trespassing
interlopers. It seems MOST snowmobilers are self centered thrill seeking,
trespassing asses.
I've hated them ever since I got a puppy back in winter of 1982, and was
standing on a street corner n town (at that time, my property) and had a
postage stamp yard.
I took my brand new doberman puppy outside to potty. It was bitterly cold.
So I stood behind a pine tree to break the wind, while waiting for him to
do his thing on a 30 foot line. The snowmobiler did not see me, but he ran
down my puppy and killed it.
After that, I strung a cable throat high to a snowmobile and painted it
white all around my yard. It didn't bring my puppy back, but it did stop
the snowmobile tresspassing in the town yard.
I hate them. I hate them all. Having cattle gards kept the horses in, but
it allowed snowmobilers to access and chase them as well. I had to put up
a gate.
Snomobilers seem to have no common sense. I hope they all darwin themselves
in their stupidity. I really do. >> Stay informed about: Doggie Play Day (fun action photos) |

Yeah - a few years ago as I was digging out after a snowfall
I was thinking it might be nice to have one and then some
idiot on a 2-stroke (NOISY) came roaring up the middle of
the road at some insanely high rate of speed, and that was
that. But still, sometimes when I'm out on the trail on
weekend mornings I see families out together being totally
reasonable and having a good, safe time, and I figure
anything that gets people outside in the winter can't be all
bad.
>I have to admit

And a lot of 'em.

I expect so. There are a lot of ways to enjoy winter, and
watching people from out-of-town come up here for school,
the ones who don't adapt get pretty miserable pretty
quickly.
[Lots of great photos coming in off the Yukon Quest trail,
but this one, taken by some people killing time waiting for
teams to arrive at a checkpoint, cracked me up:

How horrible. Why not blaze orange cable though?
