Ha! I love Carmine's "I'm Mr. Serious" face. I'm not fooled for a
minute, but *do* I love it.

That looks just like Khan's Hedgie, with a Santa hat on his head.

It's funny how serious Carmine looks in the picture. He has his game face
on.

Well that sucks. I hope he's back to normal soon.

Ah. Dogs in Mardi Gras beads. I wore beads to the polls on Tuesday. I
wonder if people thought I was celebrating my right to vote. Cubbe wore
her usual festive collar. She's always struck me as a serious dog, not
the type for beads. Though she is familiar with begging for food.

Thanks Judith, He is a very sweet boy. And while I am thinking about
it, I have been meaning to ask you about the names of some of your dogs,
in particular, what's the history behind "Jubal Early"? It's so
incredibly unique, I quite like it...
______________________
Terri,
Thanks so much. I like his name a lot too. It rolls off the tongue.
I have liked the name Jubal for a long time. I think of it as an old
southern name. I checked it out before naming him that. Jubal means
the first maker of music. ( He was dumped and I took him in, but left
him outside till I could get him to a Vet) He howled the first night.
While researching the name Jubal, I discovered Jubal Early was an
officer in the Confederate army. (He was also a lawyer, maybe that
explains the debates we have:) ) So, Jubal Early it was. He is a PBT
mix, my guess is part RR too. He is about 4, been with me for 3. He is
a very special dog. I love him a lot.
I also have Lady girl, who will be 17 in April. Everyone turns a year
older in April, it is easier for me. Then there is Buck who will be 16,
and finally another PBT mix, named Jack who arrived one year after Jubal
Early, all rescues. My Lady girl is a BC and Aussie mix. Buck is a Lab
mix or a Lab with no tail. Lady is probably the smartest dog I have
ever had. These are tough times for me, Lady and Buck are failing
before my very eyes. They are not in pain. They eat and sleep, no
accidents, but their age tells me their days are numbered, and I dread
the future. Lady just looks blank some times. She is alert enough to
move to wherever I am though, bless her heart. Everyone has been with
me since the age of one, per the vets.
Thanks for giving me a chance to "go on" about them. I have never
named a dog with a first and last name, and I am really not very
original with just plain names. Lady, Buck, Jack.....2 cats, a soon to
be 18 year old cat, a girl named Bubba, and a mean little baby boy
kitten (about 4 months old) named June. He is so mean all the dogs are
scared of him. He is mean!!!!!
I love the name Carmine, and I used to have a CBR that I named Tafffy.
Melinda and one Dr. (vet) that I took Jubal Early to, are the only
folks I have come across that knew who Jubal Early, was named after.
Before I knew JE was staying, I found a home for him (a friend of a
friend). He brought him back after a couple of weeks. He called him
Jubilee while he had him. He thought that is what I was calling him.
Yeah right, he ain't no Jubilee:)
Terri, thanks for inquiring. I know you got more than you bargained
for...Congratulatiions on your new homestead. I will be looking forward
to hearing about you getting settled in.
